LIVING WAGE

EMPLOYER

The Hunt’s Food Group are an accredited Real Living Wage Employer. Their Real Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Hunt’s Food Group receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.50. A rate of which is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s.

The Hunt’s Food Group have seven depots throughout the South of England and are based in a region where over a fifth of all jobs pay less than the real living wage. Despite the trends in the surrounding areas, Hunt’s Food Group have committed to pay the real living wage for their hard-working team.

The BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution is a leading global scheme and is internationally recognised as a badge of quality and used by specifiers in all parts of the world.

The objective of the BRC Global Standard is to ensure that product integrity during the storage and distribution are maintained, and that customer confidence is upheld through audit and certification.

SALSA

THORNER'S HOMEMADE

Written by experienced food safety experts, Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA) is a robust and effective food safety certification scheme which is appropriate for smaller food producers and suppliers.

Approved suppliers can demonstrate that they operate to standards that are recognised and accepted across the industry and exceed the minimum standards expected by enforcement authorities.

SALSA approval is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to an auditor that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.

Hunt's Food Group is committed to minimising the environmental impact of the company's activities. From management level, the company has developed an ethos of environmental responsibility by monitoring and reducing the environmental impact of the business.

Respect for the environment is a consideration at every stage of the business process. Hunt’s actively pursue reductions in packaging volumes, product wastage and comply with guidelines on packaging recycling. All possible paper, cardboard and plastic wrap is recycled. Our Sherborne Ammonia refrigerant has an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) rating of 0.

Hunt’s also recognise the impact of its operations and actively minimise with new fleet technology. Telematic technology enables the business to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions along with Adblue added to the fleet of HGV's to reduce harmful gases being emitted.
